The current pilot is for dentists and Oral Health Therapists. Dentists are the recruitment priority. Current opportunities are shown below, and further provider opportunities will be added as participation is confirmed.

Our Partnership

A specialist partnership built around a specific workforce challenge

GemSource Health is a specialist workforce initiative of GemSource Recruitment. While GemSource's core recruitment practice supports Queensland's construction, civil and trade industries, GemSource Health has been established specifically to support Koirā and Māori oral health providers across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Koirā works with Māori oral health providers on workforce strategy, workforce needs and provider engagement. GemSource provides the recruitment capability — identifying, engaging, qualifying and connecting oral health professionals with opportunities where additional clinical capacity is needed.

The current pilot is focused on dentists and Oral Health Therapists. Provider participation is still being confirmed, and opportunities are added individually rather than assumed across the wider network.

Rural, regional, suburban and metropolitan Māori communities all face different barriers to timely oral healthcare — often shaped by distance, provider capacity, and continuity of care.

Where a provider needs more clinical cover, that affects how quickly patients can be seen. The pilot is building a candidate pipeline so confirmed opportunities can be filled carefully.

Direct Community Impact

Professionals who join a Māori oral health provider see the impact of their work in the community they serve — often more directly than in conventional practice settings.

This pilot is for dentists and Oral Health Therapists who are qualified, approaching qualification, or appropriately experienced, and who are interested in community-centred work in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Not every provider has a current vacancy, and not every provider can support a new graduate. Suitability is confirmed with the individual provider.

A dentist opportunity with Kahungunu Executive in Wairoa. Suitable candidates may include experienced dentists as well as some new graduates, depending on the provider, location, clinical environment and level of support available.

About the Opportunity

GemSource Health, in partnership with Koirā, is sharing this dentist opportunity with Kahungunu Executive in Wairoa, Hawke's Bay.

This is the current confirmed opportunity in the pilot. It is not a nationwide vacancy, and it does not mean other Māori oral health providers have agreed to participate.

Kahungunu Executive provides community-led care in Wairoa. Exact duties, hours and start timing are confirmed with the provider after you register your interest.

New graduates are still dentists. Some providers may be able to support a new graduate, and others may not. Graduate suitability for this role depends on Kahungunu Executive, the clinical environment and the level of support available. It is not guaranteed.
