GemSource Health · In Partnership With Koira

Build a meaningful dental career in Aotearoa.

GemSource Health, in partnership with Koira, connects qualified and soon-to-be graduating dentists with community-centred oral healthcare opportunities across New Zealand.

Our Partnership

Supporting Māori oral health workforce needs

GemSource Health is a dedicated healthcare recruitment vertical within GemSource Recruitment, established to support oral healthcare workforce needs across Aotearoa New Zealand.

We work alongside Koira, a Māori research and workforce strategy organisation, to better understand where workforce shortages are most acutely affecting Māori oral health providers — and to connect the right people with those opportunities in a way that is considered, respectful, and built for the long term.

This is not a recruitment drive in the conventional sense. It is a partnership focused on improving access to oral healthcare for Māori communities and underserved regions, by helping qualified dentists find roles where their work has direct, visible impact.

Why This Matters

The need is real, and it is geographically wide.

Oral healthcare access for Māori communities is shaped by where providers are, and by whether those providers can find and keep the dentists they need.

Access Across Communities
Rural, regional, suburban and metropolitan Māori communities all face different barriers to timely oral healthcare — often shaped by distance, provider capacity, and continuity of care.
Workforce Shortages
Many Māori oral health providers are operating with fewer dentists than they need, which directly affects how quickly patients can be seen and treated.
Direct Community Impact
Dentists who join a Māori oral health provider see the impact of their work in the community they serve — often more directly than in conventional practice settings.
Long-Term Career Pathways
These are genuine career roles in New Zealand, with the opportunity to build a long-term practice within a community-centred provider network.

Who This Is For

Built for qualified and graduating dentists.

GemSource Health is a career pathway, not a placement scheme. It is suited to people who are ready, or nearly ready, to practise.

This opportunity is for you if you are…

  • A final-year dental student close to graduation
  • A recent dental graduate
  • A qualified, practising dentist
  • Interested in relocating to New Zealand
  • Motivated by community-centred healthcare

This is not…

  • A student placement program
  • An internship pathway
  • Open to applicants without a qualification, near-graduation status, or registration eligibility

Applicants must be qualified, graduating soon, or eligible for registration/practice in New Zealand.

Provider Network

Where the opportunity sits.

Providers in the broader network include organisations such as:

Te Hiku Hauora Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga Raukura Hauora Manaaki Ora Ora Toa Te Manu Toroa

This list reflects providers within the wider Māori oral health network. Specific roles, locations and current vacancies are confirmed individually once you register your interest.
